As part of our university’s Bologna Process activities, an evaluation meeting organized by the Education and Training Coordination Office was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, hosted by Yalova University Faculty of Medicine.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Coordinator of the Bologna Process, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İmran Ayten, and Computer Operator Süleyman Çelik on behalf of the Education and Training Coordination Office. Representing the Faculty of Medicine were Dean Prof. Dr. Nurşah Başol, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güneş Bolatlı, Faculty Secretary Serkan Ulusoy, along with relevant academic and administrative staff.
The meeting began with a comprehensive presentation by our university’s Bologna Process Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İmran Ayten, reviewing the intensive work carried out in recent months and the ongoing management of the process. Academic and administrative procedures required within the Bologna Process were discussed in detail. The definitions and analyses to be conducted by faculty members were evaluated through practical and interactive approaches.
The importance of thorough data entry by administrative and academic staff using an inductive method and the correction of potential system errors through deductive analysis was emphasized to ensure healthy progress of the process. It was noted that all these efforts directly contribute to increasing the Bologna Fulfillment Rates.
During the meeting, forms and documents related to the Bologna Process were reviewed. Since the Faculty of Medicine will have a sui generis academic calendar and evaluation criteria, potential technical issues in the UBYS system were also discussed, and possible solutions were mutually evaluated.
Starting with the 2025-2026 academic year, Yalova University Faculty of Medicine will admit first-year students in Yalova for the first time. Previously, students continued their education at Bursa Uludağ University, but now they will be educated at their own faculty, which further increases the importance of Bologna Process implementations.
The completion of the Faculty of Medicine’s establishment in Yalova and the commencement of education within its own structure is not only an academic transformation but also a significant gain for the city. This advancement in the health sector is seen as a step that will contribute to training qualified physicians and strengthen university-city integration. The preparatory works carried out within the framework of the Bologna Process aim to ensure that this transformation happens based on scientific foundations, in a planned and sustainable manner.
